Since 1990, the Foundation for Teaching Economics has been conducting teacher training programs for Central European economics teachers, with programs in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. Now, through online courses and partnerships, the FTE’s impact extends to many countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and Africa. Working with partners, such as the Institute of International Education, the FTE is able to deliver its course materials around the world. The young leaders we attract to these programs (who leave understanding the benefits of free enterprise) will be making policy decisions that affect their countries in the future. The teachers who come are important as they influence so many students. An in-depth report covering the Central European programs is available from the FTE. The FTE hosts Central European teachers at Economics for Leaders programs in the United States to prepare them for their teaching roles back home. The programs in Central Europe are playing a critical role in supporting the democratic and free market reforms.
"This program should be attended by as many people as possible because it helps us to understand better the world that we live in."
