Program Coordinator-in-Training (PCIT)

The Foundation for Teaching Economics is looking for energetic Economics for Leaders (EFL) alumni to serve as Program Coordinators (PC).  PC’s are an integral part of the EFL curriculum where they assist in the leadership instruction and oversee the daily life of the student participants.  During an EFL program each PC serves as a “big brother” or “big sister” to the student participants to motivate them, reinforce the program’s lesson objectives, provide guidance and camaraderie, and help determine and enforce the program’s rules of student conduct.

To become a Program Coordinator in the EFL program,  future PC’s must spend one summer as a Program Coordinator-in-Training (PCIT).  Like all FTE programs, PCIT training is ‘hands-on.’  PCIT’s attend an EFL program where they will interact with and learn from the PC’s and senior leadership staff. After completing this week of training, they will be prepared to work as a PC  the following summer. Same summer placements are also possible.

To considered, applicants must complete the online application,  have completed their 2nd year of college or the equivalent by the start of the summer, be an alum of the EFL, and be committed to the mission of the FTE.

Benefits of being a PC include:  round-trip travel to locations across the country, the opportunity to work with and learn from national recognized individuals in the fields of economics and leadership, meals and accommodations at the work site covered by FTE, compensation of $450 – $650 per program worked, and a $75 meal stipend.  PC’s can expect to work two to four programs per summer.

Approximately seven PCITs will be selected this summer.  Successful applicants will receive round-trip travel to the program site, meals, accommodations, $250, and $75 meal stipend.
