The IFL program affords EFL alumni the opportunity to intern for eight weeks during the summer with various FTE partner organizations in the Washington D.C. area. To be eligible for this internship, students must be in their third or fourth year of college.

2008 Washington D.C. Internships

  • Housing in Washington DC paid for by the FTE.
  • Stipend of $2,500 for the summer to cover living expenses.
  • Internships are eight weeks long with various FTE partner nonprofit organizations in D.C.
  • Students are responsible for travel to and from Washington D.C.

A few things previous interns had to say:

"… I found the entire program remarkable. The opportunities for personal growth and education outside the confines of a UC Berkeley classroom were staggering…. It was a summer of learning about free markets and the role of government."

Pablo Serrato, Intern, Cato Institute

"I'm very grateful to FTE for making the experience financially possible and I hope this program grows and benefits future alumni."

Kathryn Hunt, Intern, Institute for Justice

"I teamed up to spearhead a research project. I learned how to work effectively with other business professionals. I learned how to be listened to and be respected."

Michelle Muccio, Intern, Pacific Research Institute

"My summer at IFL was a growing experience that exposed me to a fast-paced work environment, where I was challenged, on a daily basis, to think outside the box and then bring those ideas to the conference room table."

Markette E. Smith, Intern, The Institute for Humane Studies
