Teacher Resources: Economic Barometer

Description

The consumer price index (CPI) measures the general price level. The consumer price index compares the current prices of a market basket of goods and services with the cost of approximately the same basket of goods and services in an earlier, or base, year. The percentage change in the price level from quarter to quarter or year to year is the inflation rate.
