Co-sponsoring 1-Day Teacher Workshops

  • The FTE requires a minimum enrollment of 21 participants. If enrollment falls below 20 the FTE reserves the right to cancel the program or to restructure the co-sponsor reimbursement agreement. (Note: A teacher is considered to be registered only when the co-sponsor has collected a $25 deposit check, payable to FTE. Deposits will be returned to participants at the end of the workshop.) We welcome economics, social studies, government, science, business, current events, debate, and history teachers to participate. Curriculum materials presented in the program are geared to a high school level of instruction, but are easily adaptable to and have been widely used in middle school.

  • The FTE will provide up to $25 per participant for the costs of catering and conference site fees. We can pay the services directly or you can invoice us the amount and the FTE will reimburse your organization. In addition, if you reach an enrollment of 25 participants, the FTE will pay an additional $25 per participant to your organization to cover your recruitment efforts.

  • The FTE will provide the following program materials: FTE's Is Capitalism Good for the Poor?, Economic Demise of the Soviet Union, Issues of International Trade, or Economics of Water Use & the Environment units (curriculum binders or CD Rom) with notepad, completion certificates, program evaluations, prizes, and the presenter's supplies. The FTE will also pay the honorarium and travel expenses for the presenter(s).

  • As co-sponsor, you must provide a presentation room, with registration table, lectern, screen, overhead projector, and (for some programs) LCD projector and computer.

  • We can tailor the workshop to meet your time and scheduling requirements. Workshops are typically 5 - 6 hours, with a break for either lunch or dinner, but some topics can accommodate an 8 hour workshop. Workshops can be scheduled on weekday evenings; Saturdays; as two segments on a consecutive Friday evening and Saturday morning; or during the school day. (Note that the FTE does not pay for substitutes.) Some co-sponsors schedule 2 or 3 program topics on consecutive days, in order to offer university credit.
