Congratulations on your acceptance to EHFL! Here are some details that may help you plan ahead – but remember, orientation packets will be sent about 4 weeks before the start date of your program and will also contain more specifics about where to go, etc.
WHAT TO BRING:
Bring items that will help make your stay comfortable, such as personal hygiene items, shower slippers or flip flops, and some spending money for incidentals (optional). DO NOT BRING valuable items or large amounts of cash.
All sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels will be provided by the campus Conference Services Department.
All classroom supplies will be provided by the FTE. Students can bring laptops if they wish, but they are not required for class.
Classroom-appropriate, casual, comfortable clothing is the rule on campus. Shorts, t-shirts and jeans are acceptable. Shoes, sandals or flip flops must be worn to the classroom and dining room. You may also want to pack a light sweater or jacket for the air-conditioned classroom sessions. There is no need to bring dressy clothes unless it is specifically mentioned in your orientation packet.
NOTE – please bring appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes that can get dirty for the outdoor leadership activities and the optional recreation activities such as swimming, basketball, and volleyball.
WHEN TO ARRIVE:
Students can arrive any time between 2:00-4:00 PM on their program start date (Monday). FTE staff will not be available for supervision or for luggage drop-off before 2:00 PM. The program will begin at 4:00 PM; please contact us if you anticipate a late arrival so alternate plans can be arranged. Emergency contact information for travel delays the day of the program will be sent to you in your orientation packet.
Students are required to check out of their dorm rooms no later than 11 AM on the following Sunday. Guardians are not required to be at check-in or check-out.
GETTING TO EHFL:
Students are responsible for their own travel to and from the program site. If you are flying to your EHFL site, please feel free to book your flight at any time. Remember, you will need to give yourself enough time to get from the airport to the campus, as well as pick up any checked bags and get lunch.
A variety of ground transportation options are available from the airport to campus. We recommend that you check the airport website for ground transportation options and reservation information. We typically recommend booking a cab, Uber, or airport shuttle pick-up at least a few days before the start of the program.
