2020 DC Leadership Academy
July 20 – 24, 2020
The Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) is closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19. FTE is in close contact with our campus partners. Based on current conditions, all programs are proceeding as planned. Should a campus closure require the cancellation of a program, full refunds of the program fee will be given. For participants who voluntarily withdraw, refunds will be made according to the FTE stated refund policy and schedule.
“Leadership and Economics” is an extension of our Economics for Leaders (EFL), Economic History for Leaders (EHFL), and Entrepreneurship in the Global Economy (EGE) programs. The DC Leadership Academy expands the economic reasoning skills learned in these programs through four days of activities and projects in the same interactive style that FTE alumni will recognize. Topics include history, government policy, leadership, and economics. Participants are challenged to take their FTE experience to the next level by applying the economic reasoning propositions to historical analysis and to leadership dilemmas.
In addition to the advance economic and leadership activities, students have the opportunity to visit some of Washington, DC’s great attractions. Participants will stay at American University. Alumni spend four full days at the program site, arriving Monday afternoon and departing Friday morning.
There is a $1000 program program fee which covers tuition, and room and board at American University. Participants are also responsible for travel to and from the program site, and spending money.
This program is open to previous EFL, EHFL, and EGE student participants. Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Final deadline to apply is May 1.
