Costs & Scholarships

The cost to attend FTE residential student programs is $2,000 which includes room and board. If your in-person program is moved online due to COVID-19 restrictions, the tuition will be adjusted to $800 for the virtual program.

Cancellation Policy

The Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) is closely monitoring COVID-19 and is in close contact with our college partners. Based on current conditions, all programs are proceeding as planned. Should campus protocols prohibit FTE from hosting the program in-person, the program will be moved online and the tuition adjusted to $800 for the virtual program or offered a full refund.

For participants who voluntarily withdraw, refunds will be made according to the FTE stated refund policy and schedule. The registration fee will be refunded 50% for cancellations made prior to May 19, 2023. After May 19, no refunds will be issued.

Scholarship Information

FTE strives to make its programs accessible and affordable to the best and brightest students, regardless of financial status. Scholarship funding is awarded based on a combination of factors, including:

  • Financial need
  • Leadership activities
  • Academic and extracurricular achievement
  • Site selection

Scholarship assistance typically ranges from $100 to $1000. Please note that full-tuition scholarships are extremely rare, and requests for assistance based strictly on merit are generally not considered. Also, scholarship funding is not the same at all sites. Popular sites such as Yale and UCLA have very limited funding available. If you know you need financial assistance to attend, please consider applying to alternate sites, as your chances will be higher of receiving aid.

Students are only eligible to receive scholarship funding for one FTE program during the course of their high school career. If a student is attending more than one program in a given year, funding will only be applied to one program.

Finally, scholarship requests to attend program sites that are a significant distance away will not be considered favorably, especially if there is a much closer site to your home. (For example, if you live in California but are asking for scholarship help to go to EFL at Yale University, your chances of receiving aid are less than if you ask for aid to attend EFL at UCLA.)

To Request Scholarship Assistance

To apply, please fill out the scholarship section when completing the Student Application. Applications are reviewed for scholarship funding at the same time as program admission. Admission and award notifications will be received via email within two weeks of submission.
